Azerbaijan has mediated contacts between Israel and Türkiye, but the dialogue has sharply declined in recent months, according to a senior Israeli official. He described Türkiye as a “rival state,” though not an enemy, amid worsening relations and growing tensions over Syria. The official also said Israel-Syria security talks failed partly because Israel refused to withdraw from the “buffer zone,” which it considers strategically important. Source: Haaretz
