No official US request yet on Israel-Syria deconfliction mechanism, Turkey says Turkey's Defence Ministry said on Saturday that no official request has been made by US authorities to establish a deconfliction mechanism with Israel that would cover Syria. "We are closely monitoring Israel's attacks on Syria and reiterate the need for these attacks to cease immediately," the ministry said in a statement. It added that it was "closely following statements and reports" about US efforts to set up such a mechanism, but stressed that "no official request has been conveyed" to the ministry so far. "Should such a request be made, the matter will be evaluated in coordination with the relevant authorities," the statement said. It came following recent Israeli air strikes on Syria in areas close to the Turkish border, which both Ankara and Washington have repeatedly criticised.
