Taiwan CGA monitors Chinese research vessel near restricted waters off southern Taiwan

Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration monitored the PRC research vessel Xiang Yang Hong 3 as it approached waters off southern Taiwan on Aug. 27, deploying patrol boat PP-3559 and issuing radio warnings not to enter Taiwan’s restricted waters. By 16:00, the vessel was 36.7 nm southwest of Eluanbi and 6 nm outside the restricted-water boundary, traveling southeast at 13.4 knots. The CGA said it never entered restricted waters or deployed or towed research equipment.
